Mermaid festival paint and glitter

So, with a couple of hours to spare, I finished decorating a shirt, so our kid could feel a part of the festivities when we visit the Coney Island Mermaid Parade! Kick off the summer in a crowd of New Yorkers in home-made fish costumes! I’ll put the pic on the portfolio page. Look, if any of you are in need of a painted shirt, I’ll hook you up!

End of year blues

Teaching music to pre-schoolers has great benefits. But then the end of the year comes and well, the kids have got to move on. Boo. There I was, walking down the hall, having just finished the last of two classes, thinking about how much they’ve grown in a year, how much more they open their mouths when they sing, how they volunteer their own ideas now… They’re all so darned cute. I’ll miss them.

The Humahumanukanukaaapuaa

So I finished the waterfall mural today, and the icing on the cake was a little cameo by the state fish of Hawaii, the Humahumanukanukaaapuaa. Hee hee! Say that one time fast! Lovely. Satisfaction.

Summer work & fall possibilities

If you have an event you’d like us to perform at, drop a line.
Starting in June I’ll be beginning the summer session of my children’s music classes at a few area schools and cafes. Rick and I also have some birthdays and community events lined up. Art-wise, I’m starting a new illustration project next week (one that’s been on the back burner for a while.)
I’m also looking for more work for next year; music in pre-school programs, community spaces, church services, individual lessons, also murals and other artwork. My schedule is about half full at this point. Please email with questions. Thanks!

Mural / Ketubah completion….

This is the week! Tomorrow I have my last day of waterfall mural painting scheduled. I’ll post pictures when it’s done. The Ketubah is also nearly done (after a several week absence when it was being officially signed.) I have to do some lettering and enrich the sky/leaf color. Pictures of that too, on the way…

Pajama Party Music

Oh, what a great party! Good idea for a fundraiser, don’t you think? Rent a church space, give parents a 6-10 date night, and entertain thirty kids for a couple hours. How cool. Rick and I played a set of music for the 3-7 year olds, there were movies and crafts, dinner and snacks, pajamas and sleeping bags and a bunch of cool teens to help the whole thing run. A really good night!

ISO resources re vocal health

Saw a concert last night. Beautiful singers. Sad that my hoarseness and weird asthma-thing lingers. It makes singing along under one’s breath pretty difficult. I’m really interested in finding some new resources about general vocal health and dealing with respiratory disorders as a performer. Any thoughts out there?
