Music Performance References

“Refreshing, great songs for families: Rick & Audrey have written excellent, singable songs with fine accompaniment and wonderful vocals. I highly recommend Imagine That!
— Cathy Fink, Children’s Music GRAMMY winner

“Rick & Audrey share with audiences a pure and spontaneous zest for life and love. The joy and optimism they exude is contagious.” — Busy Graham, Class Acts Arts, Inc.

My child LOVES this album! He sings these songs CONSTANTLY!  And unlike many children’s recordings, these songs don’t make me want to hurt small animals.  On the contrary, sometimes I find myself singing them, too!” — Seth Kibel, Parent and member of the Alexandria Kleztet

“Wonderful sing-able songs: This is a wonderful CD. Grownups will enjoy it as much as the children do; delightful lyrics, catchy melodies and toe tapping beats; a little gem.” — Eric Litwin (Mr. Eric) Winner of four national awards for children’s music

Parents Choice Review of Imagine That!
On their first kid’s album, Washington DC-based duo Rick & Audrey Engdahl focus mainly on nature-based, original compositions, in lyrical, acoustic settings. “Make a Garden Grow” is their excellent response to Dave Mallet’s classic “Garden Song” and is uplifted by Audrey’s strong lead vocal. “Oh Those Owls” is a sweet waltz that captures the magic of owls, while teaching mini lessons about the different variety of winged friends. The bluegrass flavored “Sandwiches Are Beautiful” should be sung in lunchrooms across the nation, while “Rain is a-Coming” is an Andrew Sisters style swing number.

The couple’s harmony prowess is evident on the lovely, crystalline “Caterpillar,” while “My Shadow” is performed Klezmer style. The Engdahls even rock out (a bit) on the growling “Dino-dino-dinosaur;” a welcome addition to the plethora of dinosaur songs. “Use A Map,” a cool little instructional song, is obviously drawn from their work in classrooms. The album ends with the pop flavored celebration of “Snow Days,” and the gentle lullaby “Go to Sleep. — Lahri Bond   ©2007 Parents’ Choice
